Who am I? I’m Shevry, the photo editor, a photographer and now producer of the Washington Informer’s digital broadcast program. Photography has been my passion since I was a teenager capturing neighborhood photos. While a patent legal assistant for almost 20 years, I took a leap and switched careers. I began formal photography training in a popular photography program in DC. In 2002 Sure Shot Photography was trademarked. I received the best photo gig ever when I was one of the official photographers on the Fantastic Voyage. In 2010 I joined the Washington Informer and received my first photo assignment in 2011. In 2012 I received a call from the White House when a delegation from several African countries were meeting with then President Barack Obama. I was one of only five photographers and the only African American and female standing two arms lengths across a conference table from the President, one of the best highlights of my life as a photojournalist. After working closely with the photo editor selecting photos for use in news stories, I was asked to step in when he decided to retire. I enjoy working with photographers who are passionate about their craft and love to bring on skilled photographers interested in photojournalism.
