Angela Alsobrooks has received the endorsement of the Elect Black Women PAC in her race to become Maryland’s next U.S. senator.
Alsobrooks, the two-term county executive in Prince George’s County, is running to replace the retiring Democrat Ben Cardin. She faces former two-term Republican Gov. Larry Hogan in the Nov. 5 general election.
“Elect Black Women PAC is thrilled to endorse Angela Alsobrooks for U.S. Senate representing Maryland,” said Ruby Powell-Dennis, executive director, Elect Black Women PAC. “She has a track record of public service, delivering Marylanders, keeping her communities safe, being accessible and caring, and the type of leadership we should be showing the world. At a time when there is immense division and backlash against exceptional Black women in government, we could not be more grateful that Angela decided to answer the call to serve in this elevated capacity.”
Elect Black Women PAC supports candidates who seek to address violence, trauma and inequities present in the everyday lives of Americans in education, housing, funding and policing. The organization works to elect new leaders who understand the systemic roots of these injustices.
“What an honor it is, to join a group of such amazing women who have been endorsed by the Elect Black Women PAC,” Alsobrooks said. “We need to fight for our futures — that means fighting to protect our freedoms, like access to reproductive health care. And fighting for our children — so they can have a future not where they are living on the margins, but where they are living beyond their wildest dreams.”
Since its founding in 2020, the organization has received hundreds of requests for support from Black women nationwide. They are proud to have endorsed over 150 incredible leaders last cycle, of which 69 women won and are currently serving their communities.
Alsobrooks has been endorsed by leaders and lawmakers from across Maryland, including Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D), Cardin, Gov. Wes Moore and Reps. Steny Hoyer, John Sarbanes, David Trone, Kweisi Mfume and Glenn Ivey. She has the support of the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, Sens. Cory Booker (D-New Jersey), Raphael Warnock (D-Georgia) and Laphonza Butler (D-California), as well as several organizations representing a diverse coalition of voters including EMILYs List, Reproductive Freedom for All, Delta for Women in Action (D4), Alpha PAC, Sigma PAC 1914, the Collective PAC, Higher Heights for America, and more.
